Whooping cough

Symptoms
Loss of appetite, loose motions, pain in the abdomen, fever, discoloration of the skin or tongue, lassitude and giddiness are the general signs and symptoms of Krmi Roga.


Treatment
Single Drugs
1. Svarasa (juice) obtained from the fresh leaf of Maha-Nimba (persian lilac) 7 to 14 ml. is to be taken with 7 to 14 g. honey twice a day.

2. Svarasa (juice) of seed of PalaSa (forest flame) 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with Takra (butter milk) twice a day.

3. Kalka (paste) prepared from the seed of PalaSa (forest flame) 12 to 25 g. is to be taken with 100ml Takra (butter milk) twice a day

4. Raja of fruit of Kampillaka (kamala dust) 500 mg. is to be taken with 1 g. Gua (jaggery) or 100 g. curd twice a day.

5. Powdered seed of PalaSa (forest flame) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with 100ml Takra (buttermilk) twice a day.

6. Powdered seed of Vianga 1 g. is to be taken with honey sufficient to make a paste twice a day.

7. Seed of Parasika Yavani 1 g. to be taken with 5 g. Gua (jaggery) and 50 to 100 ml. water twice a day.

8. Paste (Kalka) of unripe Puga (areca nut) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with 7 to 14 ml. juice of Jambira (medicinal lemon) twice a day.

9. Powdered seed of Sigru (horse radish) 1 to 2 g. is to be taken with water twice a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Powder of equal part of seed of Vianga, Saindhava (rock-salt), Yavaksara, Raja of fruit of Kampillaka (kamala dust) and fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with Takra (butter milk) twice a day.

2. Powder of equal part of seeds of PalaSa (forest flame) and Parasika Yavani (henbane), indrayava (kurchi seeds), Avalguja (Somaraji), Krsa Lavaa, Suddha Gandhaka (sulpher) and fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with Curodaka (lime water) twice a day.

3. Brew leaves of Kharjura (date) in the decoction of leaves of Kharjura (date) for over night, strain next morning and take 14 to 28 ml. with 7 to 14 g. honey twice a day.

4. Decoction prepared from rhizome of Kauki 3 g., bark of Daima (pomegranate) 6 g. tuber of Vidari (giant potato) 6 g. leaf of Apamarga (prickly chaff) 6 g. and Tvak Dalacini (cinnamon bark) 3 g. is to be taken in 14 to 28 ml. dose with 4 to 5 drops of Sarala Niryasa Taila (turpentine oil) twice a day.

Compound Preparations

1. Somarajyadi Cura: 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with 50 ml. water twice a day.

2. Viangadi Cura: 1 g. is to be taken with honey in sufficient quantity to make a paste twice a day.

3. Krmimudgara Rasa: 1 to 2 Vai is to be taken with 50 ml. water twice a day.

4. Krmi-Kuhara Rasa: 1 to 2 pills is to be taken with 50 ml. water twice a day.

5. Viangaarisa: 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with equal quantity of water after meal.

Pathya

Tikta Dravya, Sali variety of rice; Usradugdha (camels milk), Gomutra (cows urine); Hingu (asafoetida); fruit of Karavellaka (bitter gourd), leaves of Sigru (horse radish) and Vastuka (a variety of chenopodium), fruit of Yavani (ptychotis), seed of Sarsapa (mustard) and fruits of Kadali (banana) and Tala (Palmyra) are the useful articles of diet for the patient of Krmi-Roga.

Apathya

Madhura Rasa Pradhana and Pisamaya Dravya, Masa (black phaseolus bean), incompatible items of food, curd and milk are harmful for the patient of Krmi-Roga. Day sleep and excessive food should be avoided.
